Local History
Preserving the heritage of the community is
an important role of the public library
The goal of our Local History Department is to document and preserve
material relevant to the history of North Tonawanda. This collection
contains books, maps, photographs and newspaper clippings detailing
the rich history of North Tonawanda, and the Erie Canal in the Tonawandas.
The Library has a local history area which houses books, pamphlets,
historical North Tonawanda maps, and locally produced publications
including cemetery directories and memoirs. Most Local History
items are reference materials that do not circulate. Please
check holdings in the Online
Catalog.
