Library History
Chartered in 1893 as a school district library, the North Tonawanda
Public Library was initially located in the now demolished Goundry
School #1. Philanthropist Andrew Carnegie’s gift of
$20,000 in 1904 funded the Library’s second home at 240 Goundry
St. Crowded conditions in the Carnegie building prompted the
opening of the Library’s third and present location on Meadow
Drive in 1975. The former Carnegie Library is now an art gallery.
Library Board of Trustees
A five member Board of Trustees establishes Library policies. Trustees
are elected for five year terms. The Board meets on the fourth
Monday of the month. All meetings are open to the public. Current
trustees are: Brenda Daigler, Deborah Galas, Paul Sikora,
