Join us for reading challenges, over 60 programs, and tons of fun!

How to Participate:

1. Sign up in the Children’s Room (for all ages)

Starting on June 24th for your chance to win one of our amazing raffle baskets! Each book you read/activity you complete on our Adventure Begins at Your Library Bingo Board earns you one raffle ticket. Fill out the whole board and earn extra tickets.  The more you read, the better your chances! The program ends on Friday, Aug. 31st and winners can pick up their prizes starting on Friday, Sept. 6th.  You also get prizes for participating and completing at least 5 bingo squares.

2. Attend our many programs.

You get a full calendar list when you sign up, or you can see our upcoming events on our online event calendar, Instagram, or Facebook. Please note that some of these programs require preregistration.  For our largest events, you can reserve tickets two weeks prior to the event date.  Please do not lose your tickets; we cannot replace them for you!

3. Read Down Your Fines (for kids and teens 10-19)

If you’re between 10 and 19 years old, you can read down your fines all summer long!  Just pick up a form at the Information Desk or print this one.  You can read at home, with an adult’s signature, or at the library. Each 1/2 hour of reading=$1 off of your library fines. Please note that this only counts for fines incurred at the North Tonawanda Public Library branch and does not count toward lost items.

4. NIOGA Library Adventure Map

The NIOGA Library System is offering an extra challenge this year. Pick up a Library Adventure Map in the Children’s Room and get visiting all the NIOGA libraries! Visit libraries in the NIOGA system to earn badges, see new sights, and find new books to fall in love with.  Each library in our system you visit will earn you a raffle ticket for an amazing grand prize, starting right here with your hometown library. For more information on the Library Adventure Map, prizes, and cool things to do in each town, please see the NIOGA website.

5. Smokey Bear’s Reading Challenge

It’s Smokey Bear’s 80th birthday!  To celebrate, all kids ages 4-10 are encouraged to complete his reading challenge and learn more about nature. Get a form in the Children’s Room or on Smokey’s website.  If you complete the challenge, stop by the Children’s Room to get a sticker and fill out this online form to get extra downloadable prizes.
